Mortoniceras (Drakeoceras) drakei is a well-recognised species within the Acanthoceratoidea superfamily, known for its broad and pronounced ribbing, strong ventrolateral tubercles, and moderately evolute shell structure. The genus Mortoniceras was once widespread in the Western Interior Seaway, a vast shallow marine system that covered much of central North America during the Cretaceous.
