Berriasella belonged to the subclass Ammonoidea, an extinct group of marine mollusks closely related to modern squids and octopuses. Ammonites were active swimmers, using their chambered shells for buoyancy control to move efficiently through prehistoric seas. Their ribbed shells provided protection against predators and reinforced their structural integrity.
