Description
Own a beautiful piece of Earth’s ancient history with this genuine CLEONICERAS GRYCIA BESAIVEI iridescent fossil ammonite. Featuring an exquisite natural preservation, this fossil originates from the Lower Albian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period (approximately 113 to 110 million years ago) and was discovered in the fossil-rich marine sediments of Mitsinjo, Madagascar.
Geology & Origin:
During the Lower Albian, the region around Mitsinjo was submerged under shallow, warm seas. These conditions led to rapid burial and fossilization of marine creatures such as ammonites. In rare cases, the original shell material, rich in aragonite, was preserved, creating the mesmerizing iridescent “Mother of Pearl” effect seen on this exceptional specimen.
