Description
Presenting a beautifully preserved DESMOCERAS fossil ammonite, an authentic marine fossil from the Lower Albian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period (approximately 113 to 110 million years ago). This exceptional specimen was collected from the fossil-rich deposits of Boeny, Madagascar.
Geology & Origin:
The Boeny region of Madagascar was once submerged beneath shallow seas during the Early Cretaceous. These conditions supported rich marine biodiversity, including ammonites like Desmoceras. After death, the shells of these creatures were quickly buried under layers of fine sediment, leading to superb fossilization. Boeny is now a key site for high-quality ammonite fossils from the Albian period.
