Description
Presenting a magnificent DESMOCERAS iridescent fossil ammonite, naturally preserved with stunning Mother of Pearl shell brilliance. This beautiful fossil originates from the Aptian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period (approximately 125 to 113 million years ago) and was discovered in the fossil-rich deposits of Tulear, Madagascar.
Geology & Origin:
During the Aptian age, Tulear was submerged under shallow seas that nurtured a diverse marine ecosystem. Ammonites like Desmoceras thrived here, and when they died, their shells were quickly buried under fine sediments. In rare cases, like this specimen, the original aragonite shell layer fossilized intact, creating the breathtaking iridescent “Mother of Pearl” effect highly prized by collectors.
