This beautiful piece originates from the highly fossiliferous beds of Frogden Oborne, near Sherborne, in Dorset, United Kingdom.
Dorsetensia is a genus of ammonite known for its strong ribbing, moderately involute shell, and its role as an important index fossil for the Bajocian. These ammonites lived in warm, shallow Jurassic seas and were part of the complex marine ecosystems that dominated the Mesozoic Era.
