Geology & Origin:
During the Upper Oxfordian, the region now known as Vienne was submerged beneath a shallow epicontinental sea that supported abundant marine life. Ammonites like Euaspidoceras hypselum thrived in these warm, nutrient-rich waters. Their shells were buried in fine marine sediments after death, resulting in exceptional fossil preservation.
