This is a superb and museum-grade specimen of the extinct ray-finned fish Pachycormus, recovered from the renowned Posidonia Shale (Posidonienschiefer) of Holzmaden, Swabian Jura, Stuttgart, Germany. Dating to the Toarcian Stage of the Lower Jurassic (Upper Lias), approximately 182 million years ago, this fossil is a classic representation of one of the most iconic fish taxa from the Holzmaden conservation lagerstätten.
