This beautifully preserved specimen comes from the highly regarded Alice Purnell Collection, known for its meticulously curated and locality-verified fossils.   • Morphology Features: Leptosphinctes is characterised by its compressed, involute shell with prominent sharp ribbing and a small umbilicus. Its ornamentation and whorl cross-section are diagnostic within its genus.

  • Superfamily: Stephanoceratoidea
  • Order: Ammonitida
  • Depositional Environment: Shallow epicontinental sea with calcareous mud and marl deposition, representative of marine shelf conditions prevalent in southern England during the Jurassic
