Offered here is a genuine Lytoceras fossil ammonite, discovered on 19 July 2024 by our expert fossil hunting team Alister and Alison at Eype, Dorset, part of the world-renowned Jurassic Coast of the United Kingdom. This fossil has been meticulously cleaned, prepped, and treated by Alison, revealing the natural elegance of this extinct marine cephalopod.
Lytoceras is a genus of fast-swimming ammonite known for its smooth, planispiral shell with wide whorls, and it lived during the Early Jurassic period. This particular specimen was recovered from Lower Toarcian-age strata, making it around 183 million years old.
