MORPHOCERAS JACATUM

Morphoceras jacatum is an ammonite belonging to the extinct group of marine cephalopods that flourished throughout much of the Mesozoic Era. Ammonites were related to living squid, cuttlefish and nautiluses, but carried an external chambered shell. The animal lived in the final body chamber, while the earlier chambers helped regulate buoyancy and movement within the water column.
