Peltoceras athletica was a fast-moving, nektonic carnivore that thrived in shallow marine environments during the Late Jurassic. Its robust, heavily ribbed shell is characteristic of the genus, and fossils of this species are particularly well-known from the sedimentary limestone beds of western France.
