An excellent and genuine fossil ammonite of the species Peroniceras telmachi, collected from the Toarcian stage of the Lower Jurassic at St Paul des Fortes, Aveyron, France. This striking fossil displays the well-defined coiling and fine ribbing characteristic of this genus.
Peroniceras telmachi is an extinct ammonite species from the order Ammonitida, class Cephalopoda, and subclass Ammonoidea. Ammonites from this time period were free-swimming marine molluscs with planispiral shells, typically used in biostratigraphy as index fossils.
