Genuine Phaulozigzag phaulomorphus Ammonite Fossil

This is a genuine Phaulozigzag phaulomorphus ammonite fossil from the Lower Bathonian Stage of the Middle Jurassic. It was collected in Calvados, Normandy, France, an area recognised for fossil-bearing Jurassic marine rocks. Geological Age and Locality

The Bathonian Stage forms part of the Middle Jurassic and dates to approximately 168 to 166 million years ago. During this interval, much of north-western Europe was covered by warm shallow seas. Over millions of years, compaction, mineral-rich groundwater and geological change preserved those remains as fossils.

About Phaulozigzag phaulomorphus

Phaulozigzag phaulomorphus is an ammonite associated with Lower Bathonian marine deposits. Ammonites were extinct cephalopods related to modern squid, cuttlefish and nautiluses. Their coiled external shells were divided internally into chambers. The animal lived in the final chamber, while the earlier chambers helped regulate buoyancy.
