Description
This listing features a superbly preserved PHYLLOCERAS VELLEDAE fossil ammonite, a rare and genuine specimen from the Albian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period (approximately 113 to 100 million years ago). It originates from the rich marine fossil deposits of Boeny, Madagascar.
Geology & Origin:
The Boeny region was once part of a vast, shallow tropical sea during the Albian, supporting a diverse marine ecosystem. As marine organisms like ammonites died, they were rapidly buried in fine ocean sediment, enabling fossilization over millions of years. The exceptional preservation conditions in Boeny make it one of Madagascar’s premier fossil sites.
