Description
Now available is a genuine Phymosoma texanum fossil, a classic regular echinoid (sea urchin) from the Lower Cretaceous Period (approximately 145 to 100 million years ago). This specimen was collected from the well-known fossil-bearing formations of Texas, USA, which have long yielded some of the finest Cretaceous echinoids in North America.

During the Lower Cretaceous, the region now known as Texas was part of a shallow inland sea teeming with marine life. Organisms like Phymosoma texanum thrived on the sea floor, and when they died, their hard exoskeletons (tests) were buried by sediment. Over millions of years, mineralization preserved them in exquisite detail, creating this highly collectible fossil.
