Description
Available here is an excellent specimen of Pleuroceras stellare, a fossil ammonite from the Upper Pliensbachian stage of the Early Jurassic, collected in South Petherton, Somerset, United Kingdom. This classic locality is renowned for its well-preserved ammonite fauna within Lower Jurassic marine sediments.
Pleuroceras stellare is a distinctive ammonite species known for its strong radial ribbing, compressed whorls, and often sharp, angular keel, giving it a star-like appearance—hence the name stellare. These features made it highly recognisable among collectors and paleontologists.
