Description
For sale is a genuine and scientifically significant Polymorphites quadratus fossil ammonite, collected from the Lower Pliensbachian stage of the Early Jurassic, found in the Osnabrück region of Germany. This locality is part of the classic fossil-rich strata of the North German Jurassic Basin.
Polymorphites quadratus belongs to the family Eoderoceratidae and is characterised by its involute coiling, strong ribbing, and a shell with a somewhat squared whorl section—hence the name quadratus. Its ribs often bifurcate and extend across the flanks, giving it a bold, sculpted appearance. This morphological distinctiveness makes it valuable both for collectors and biostratigraphic study.
