Description
A rare opportunity to own a stunning PUZOSIA MOZAMBICA iridescent fossil ammonite, beautifully preserved with a natural Mother of Pearl shell. This striking fossil is from the Albian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period (approximately 113 to 100 million years ago) and was found in the famous fossil beds of Mahajanga, Madagascar.
Geology & Origin:
Mahajanga, in northwestern Madagascar, was submerged under shallow tropical seas during the Albian age. This marine environment provided ideal conditions for the fossilisation of ammonites, with fine sediments preserving their intricate shell structures. In rare cases like this, the nacreous (Mother of Pearl) layer was fossilized intact, creating an iridescent sheen that shimmers with a rainbow of colors.
