Description
Presenting a striking and authentic PUZOSIA MOZAMBICA iridescent fossil ammonite, featuring a natural Mother of Pearl shell sheen. This beautiful specimen dates back to the Albian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period (approximately 113 to 100 million years ago) and was discovered in the fossil-rich deposits of Mahajanga, Madagascar.
Geology & Origin:
The Mahajanga Basin in northwestern Madagascar was submerged under warm seas during the Cretaceous period, providing ideal conditions for marine life, especially ammonites, to flourish. The sediments preserved the ammonites exquisitely, and in rare cases like this, the nacreous layer of the shell remained intact, creating stunning iridescence that captures light with a rainbow of colors.
