Deltadromeus agilis was a fast-moving predatory theropod dinosaur that lived in North Africa during the Early Cretaceous. Its name translates roughly to “agile delta runner,” reflecting both its likely speed and the river-delta environments in which it lived. The species was formally described in 1996 by palaeontologists Paul Sereno, Jeffrey Wilson, and colleagues, based on fossil material discovered in the Kem Kem region of Morocco.

This dinosaur belonged to the order Theropoda, the group of bipedal carnivorous dinosaurs that includes some of the most formidable predators in prehistoric history. Deltadromeus is commonly interpreted as a lightly built, fast-running hunter, capable of chasing smaller prey across the floodplains and river margins of ancient North Africa.

Estimates suggest that adult individuals could reach lengths of around 8 metres (26 feet), although their bodies were far more slender and lightweight than the massive skull-bearing predators like Carcharodontosaurus.
