An extraordinary and large 10″ Parkinsonia parkinsoni ammonite fossil from the Inferior Oolite, discovered on the stunning Jurassic Coast at Burton Bradstock, Dorset, UK. This highly detailed and well-preserved specimen is a showpiece fossil ideal for collectors and natural history enthusiasts.

This impressive specimen was found by our expert field team, Alister and Alison, on 17 January 2025, and has been expertly cleaned, prepped, and treated by Alison to enhance its striking preservation.

Parkinsonia parkinsoni is recognised by its evolute coiling, strong ribbing, and robust shell structure, making it an important biostratigraphic marker for the Bajocian Stage of the Middle Jurassic. It belongs to the family Parkinsoniidae, within the superfamily Stephanoceratoidea, known for their ornate and wide-ranging ammonite representatives.

The fossil was collected from the Inferior Oolite Formation, deposited in a shallow marine carbonate platform environment typical of the Bajocian Stage, offering excellent insight into mid-Jurassic marine ecosystems.
