This is a rare and well-preserved 7.5″ Gonolkites convergens fossil ammonite, dating to the Lower Bathonian stage of the Middle Jurassic (~167 million years ago), discovered in West Bay, Burton Bradstock, United Kingdom.
Gonolkites convergens belongs to the Stephanoceratidae family, known for its ornate ribbing, strong whorls, and distinctive coiling pattern. These ammonites were active, free-swimming marine cephalopods that thrived in warm, shallow Jurassic seas.
The Lower Bathonian formations of Burton Bradstock are famous for their exceptionally preserved ammonite specimens, offering crucial insight into Jurassic marine ecosystems.
