Description
A RARE and exceptional fossil heteromorph ammonite specimen of Aegocrioceras capricornus, originating from the Lower Hauterivian Stage of the Early Cretaceous Period, collected near Munich, Germany. This specimen is from the historically important Alice Purnell Collection, known for its well-documented and accurately classified fossils.
Aegocrioceras capricornus belongs to the heteromorph group of ammonites characterised by irregular, often helically uncoiled or partly coiled shells. The genus is assigned to the family Ancyloceratidae, within the superfamily Ancyloceratoidea, and the order Ammonitida.
