£120.00
This listing features a RARE Fossil Heteromorph Ammonite – Acrioceras tabarelli preserved in both positive and negative split rock halves, offering a full three-dimensional profile of this distinctive Cretaceous species. Collected from Tamri, Morocco, this piece originates from the Upper Barremian stage of the Early Cretaceous Period (~129–125 million years ago).
Geological and Scientific Information:
Species:Acrioceras tabarelli
Fossil Type: Heteromorph Ammonite
Geological Period: Cretaceous
Geological Stage: Upper Barremian
Formation/Locality: Tamri Region, Morocco
Fossil Age: Approximately 125 million years
Order: Ammonitida
Superfamily: Ancyloceratoidea
Family: Ancyloceratidae

Why This Fossil is Special:
Rare preservation of both positive and negative impressions in a split matrix
Classic heteromorph morphology valuable for collectors and academic interest
Sourced from a well-known Barremian site near Tamri, Morocco

Cretaceous Information
The Cretaceous Period (145–66 million years ago) was the final era of the Mesozoic, marked by the dominance of dinosaurs and the rise of flowering plants. It had a warm, greenhouse climate, with high sea levels that created vast shallow inland seas. Marine life flourished, including mosasaurs, ammonites, and rudist reefs, while the land was ruled by iconic dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, and Spinosaurus. Mammals and birds diversified, and insects thrived. The period ended with the mass extinction event, likely caused by an asteroid impact, wiping out the dinosaurs and paving the way for the rise of mammals in the Cenozoic.
