Species Information:
Pleydellia falcifer is a rare ammonite species highly prized by fossil collectors due to its striking, tightly coiled shell with well-defined, intricate ribbing. This species thrived during the Jurassic period, specifically in the Inferior Oolite formation, around 170 million years ago. As an ammonite, Pleydellia falcifer was a marine mollusc related to modern cephalopods such as squid and octopuses, inhabiting warm, shallow Jurassic seas.
