This remarkable specimen was found in the well-known marine fossil deposits of Drugendorf, Germany, a site long recognized for its high-quality ammonite preservation.

Geology & Origin:

During the Kimmeridgian, the region of Drugendorf was submerged under a shallow epicontinental sea. Ammonites like Sutneria platynotoa thrived in these nutrient-rich waters. Upon death, their shells were buried by fine marine sediments, allowing for detailed fossilisation. This environment produced some of the finest ammonites in Europe.
