This fossil was collected from the internationally famous fossil beds of Whitby, North Yorkshire, UK, an area known for yielding some of the finest ammonites in Europe.

Zugodactylites braunianus is part of the Dactylioceratidae family, known for their sharply ribbed, tightly coiled shells.
